Get a move on! Learn to tap into breath support and body connectivity in new ways while exploring movement themes relevant to your life. Grounded in Laban Movement Analysis, one of the movement systems most widely used by dancers, this class emphasizes creative movement and improvisational dance. Work at your own level in a safe, challenging - and playful - environment. Appropriate for anyone who wants to discover new movement possibilities and a richer movement experience, including older movers and people with mixed abilities. No experience necessary.

Creative movement (ages 2 - 4) & Pre-Ballet (ages 5 - 6)

The goal of this creative movement/pre-ballet program is to provide a positive and fun introduction to dance. Using images from nature and the children's world we explore how our bodies move through space, incorporating music and rhythm.

Clothing and Shoes

Please wear whatever is comfortable to move in.

We ask everyone to remove their shoes before entering the dance studios, and we provide cubbies outside of the studios for storing your shoes and other belongings.

Red Line to Takoma. Exit Metro station and continue straight on Carroll Ave. At second stop light, take a left on Maple Ave. Dance Exchange is half a block down on your right.

Parking

There is a small parking lot behind our building as well as metered parking spots in front of the Dance Exchange studio. You can park along Maple Street and in the surrounding neighborhood, but be mindful of the parking restrictions, as you may be ticketed.
