Funny Uncles “This piece celebrates all of us. Whether your family is straight or gay, adoptive, alternative, divorced, married, full of step-members – or anything in between – we all know the expectation of what a ‘real family’ should look like. Funny Uncles invites people to honor what being a family is really about: recognizing the love, not worrying about the differences.”--Peter DiMuro While the number of blended families, adoption, single parents by choice and gay parenting are all on the rise, the image of family remains as a traditional, nuclear unit. Funny Uncles, conceived and directed by Producing Artistic Director Peter DiMuro, explores the reality of contemporary families through movement, theatre, video and spoken word.
