Pas de Dirt
Introduction
Upcoming Performances
Pas de Dirt is an illustration of the way the Dance Exchange answers its own question, "Who gets to dance?" Borrowing elements of music and a few pirouettes from Swan Lake, even heavy machinery gets a chance to dance. In fact, the cast includes propane-powered backhoes, their licensed operators, professional dance artists from the Dance Exchange, and ballet student guest artists.
The piece has been performed at the Garde Arts Center in New London, Connecticut and at the Paramount Theater in Charlottesville, Virginia. When presented at the 2005 First Night Fest in Del Ray Beach, Florida, it earned the coveted Prism Award from the Zambelli Internationale fireworks company for “capturing the First Night spirit.” Pas de Dirt was performed again at 2007 First
Night Fest in Del Beach, Florida - a happy return for the Dance Exchange.
