CATALYST Award Winners

The CATALYST Award was created to recognize and honor individuals who have sparked meaningful dialogue, research, collaboration, stability, and risk-taking in partnership with Dance Exchange. Dance Exchange awarded the first Catalyst award in 2020 to board member Marti. S. Head for her work at the intersections of science and dance. In 2021, the award honored local choreographer and Dance Exchange partnering artist Ralph Glenmore for his commitment to dance education and his choreographic achievements. In 2023, we honored Executive Artistic Director Cassie Meador as she marked 20 years with the organization. In 2024, we honored Judith Bauer who exemplifies so much that is key to our identity at Dance Exchange as a creative arts organization. This year, we are delighted to honor Martha Wittman, a generational bridge in modern dance whose 70-year legacy of artistry, teaching, and mentorship has catalyzed creativity, connection, and transformation across countless artists and communities. She has sparked meaningful dialogue, research, collaboration, stability, and risk-taking with Dance Exchange. We hope you will join us at SPARK to celebrate and honor Martha!
