Title: Creative Producer 

Starting: Wednesday, September 1, 2021

Hours per week: 30. Work hours are generally weekdays between 10:00am-6:00pm, with work on weekends and evenings for special events as needed.

Place of Work: Dance Exchange’s Community and Creative Hub, 7117 Maple Ave, Takoma Park, Maryland with opportunities for remote work

Immediate supervisor: Executive Artistic Director

Salary Range: $35,000-$39,000

Position Overview:

The Creative Producer will work in close partnership with the Executive Artistic Director. The position will lead production management and project implementation at Dance Exchange and will play a key role in partnership cultivation and management. This is a role that requires a “both/and” way of working. The Creative Producer will need to attend to both the small details and the big picture of each project. They will need to both foster relationships centered on empathy and equity and hold the team accountable to timelines, deadlines, and deliverables.  

This role is an opportunity to work with a highly collaborative team to expand who gets to dance, where dance is happening, what dance is about, and why dance matters through the deepening and expansion of cross-disciplinary partnerships and innovative program implementation.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Management and Cultivation of Partnerships

    • Work with Executive Artistic Director to engage current and prospective local and national partners in developing Dance Exchange programs, initiatives, and offerings

    • Cultivate Dance Exchange’s earned income through the expansion of revenue generating partnerships

  • Production Management and Implementation

    • Work closely with the Executive Artistic Director and other Dance Exchange staff  to move from vision to implementation of creative projects and initiatives

    • Develop and manage the execution of production timelines in relationship to creative vision and project budgets, as well as funding and partnership expectations

    • Develop and track project budgets in relation to annual budgets

    • Coordinate with contracted project managers, producers, partners and artists on program implementation to align expectations and act as a point person among the collaborative team

    • Work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to execute and ensure compliance with contracts

    • Maintain program tracker and partner database

    • Provide logistic and project support to collaborative teams. This could include coordinating travel, lodging and interpretation and translation. 

    • Schedule project and partnership meetings and co-lead meetings with Dance Exchange staff

    • Serve as point person for project partners and creative teams 

 

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Strong capacity for building and stewarding relationships and working in diverse teams

  • Highly organized with an ability to hold project details along with the big picture

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative and responsive environment with a commitment to generosity and curiosity 

  • Professional experience, knowledge, and enthusiasm for producing, management, and administration in or beyond the arts. Relevant (but not required) degrees may include bachelor's degree or higher in arts management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Suite and other office software. Video editing skills prefered
