Deborah Riley is a life-long dance artist, educator and leader who aims to bring joy and meaning to adults of all ages. She is currently a teaching artist with Georgetown University Hospital, Studio Acting Conservatory, Dance Place and Arts for the Aging. Deborah’s experience as a Certified Movement Analyst informs her continued teaching of dance and movement to actors, dancers and people with Multiple Sclerosis. In her capacity as artist-in-residence, faculty member, staff and Co-Director of Dance Place, she contributed to nurturing the careers of thousands of dance artists, students and arts administrators. Her Moving Affirmations workshops hosted in partnership with community organizations such as the DC Rape Crisis Center, Montgomery County Crisis Center and Whitman Walker Clinic, helped to facilitate healing and recovery for women experiencing trauma and addiction. Among many funding awards and honors, she is most proud of being the recipient of the Pola Nirenska Lifetime Achievement. She currently serves as Board Chair with Dance Exchange, and as Vice Chair on the Board of Directors of Arts for the Aging.
