Selyse A

Assistant Teaching Artist, Breakthrough Montessori Intersession Program

Selyse is a performing movement artist and choreographer. She studied dance with an emphasis on performance and choreography. She currently dances with Culture Shock DC as a core member of the Choreography team and serves as a captain of the Freestyle team. She has had the pleasure of working with many artists either from or based in the DMV, Louisiana, New York, and South Africa. Her most recognized work, Silent Exhaustion, was featured in a regional artists showcase and previously chosen to be featured in an ACDA Mid-Atlantic North Conference Informal Concert.  Her most recent work, Shrill, premiered in January 2024 at the first Platform Black Dance Festival. In addition to the performing arts, she has been assisting students in literacy for the past four years and is excited to bring this expertise coupled with her artistry to the Moving Field Guide program as part of Breakthrough Montessori’s Intersession program.
