Soneela Nankani has over 25 years of experience as a community dialogue facilitator, co-creator, thought partner and performer in capacity-building and place-based projects around the nation. She has extensive experience working in devising and community-engaged processes. She is also a classically trained actor with several regional theatre, television and film credits. In addition to her artistic and community work, Soneela has a background in economics and arts management. She has held roles in producing, marketing and finance for both arts and non-arts organizations, including as Executive Director of Center for Performance and Civic Practice, an organization that supported the efforts of artists looking to use their artistic assets to transform systems and improve the impacts of government and community-driven efforts and programs. Most recently, Soneela has been consulting at the intersection of the arts, civic engagement, and social justice, focusing on encouraging dialogue around stimulating and supporting a culture of inclusion in the arts and nonprofit fields.She has worked with several organizations and academic institutions including On Site Opera, In Our Backyards (IOBY), Portland State University and Pig Iron Theatre. Soneela is also an accomplished audiobook narrator having narrated over 500 books. In 2021, she was awarded AudioFile magazine’s Golden Voice Lifetime Achievement Honor. Her audiobooks have been featured in Best Audiobooks lists by AudioFile Magazine, Audible.com, The New York Times and The Washington Post.
